In honor of Natalia's birthday. Her boys and their sisters did awesome acts of service today. They made over 20 Halloween cards to send with "Meals on Wheels". They will definitely brighten some peoples Halloween!!
Our family for Family Home Evening one night collected a load of firewood for a neighbor and friend that needed wood for this winter. The kids helped pick up the logs and stack them in the truck.
I took a few meals to some families in our neighborhood who have had new babies recently. Also, I've been trying to have extra, extra patience with my kids, as I know Natalia had so much patience and was the best mom to her two little boys. :)
I turned in a purse I found in a cart in the Target parking lot. And I've donated several hours of time and some of my things to our ward's Super Saturday this week.
Fed the missionaries not once but twice this week. They stopped by unannounced because their appointment cancelled on them and we were the closest members to their investigators house. It was a busy busy night for me and I still had yet to do the grocery shopping but we welcome the two elders in and fed them and enjoyed their company. At the end of their visit my teenage son bore his testimony about L. Tom Perry's talk at General Conf and what an impact it made on him that day he listened to it. As a mom I was grateful for that opportunity to hear him speak with the spirit. I may not have had the chance if I had made excuses not to have the missionaries come in on such a "busy" night for me. We are never too busy to serve the full time missionaries...
Watched an inactive ward member's new puppy so she could drive to Georgia to witness her very first grandchild being born. The puppy required a lot of attention and I lost a lot of sleep but I did good on my tests at school. I know it wasn't much but to this ward member it meant alot to her to know that her new puppy was being loved by me while she was gone on her trip.
(1) I went to a friend's funeral today in support of her family, (2) then I visited a friend who lost her son to suicide last month, (3) then I visited an elderly friend of mine & brought her some pumpkin bread, (4-5) then I went to the temple with (Natalia's) husband (so that counts as one for each of us!) It was a great day of service! (6) I also helped my daughter's teacher this week. It feels so good to serve, I think I'm blessed more than those I serve! Thanks Camille for doing this for Natalia, I'm sure she is smiling as she watches each of us doing acts of service in her name!
*I helped my mom complete a project she needed help with. *I went to my grandparent's house to help my grandpa care for my bed-ridden grandma. *I let someone go in front of me while driving today. I sent my aunt a kind text.
I watched my niece today. I played with my son after school even though my house is a mess & I wanted to take care of other things. It meant a lot to him!
1. Helped a brother-in-law with a wiring project 2. Helped married kids with trailer loads of moving boxes 3. Took grandsons to play baseball at the park all morning 4. Mowed and trimmed my father's yard
1. Helped daughter can peaches 2. Participated in service project at elementary school 3. Tended grandsons while Mom packed moving boxes 4. Served dinner to missionaries 5. Made pumpkin cookies for neighbors 6. Visited people in the care center
We have had so many people serve us over the last month, that I have had a hard time thinking of what service I have done. But, I finally came up with a few:
1. Donated all of our food to our neighbors before we moved 2. Babysat for my mother-in-law 3. Fed the missionaries 4. Delivered meals to a family friend in need.
Sealed some daughters to parents. Thought of Natalia and the amazing bless that she will be with her family FOREVER! Did the dishes when I really did not want to but thought of Natalia and got it done!
1. Baked cookie with my son and let him frost them 2. Canned peaches with friend 3. Surprised husband with weekend get away
I love this time of year when I get to think of Natalia in all the service that I do! Most the time I don't pay much attention to when I do service but this time of year I am much more aware and get to think of Talia while I do it! Love and miss her!
